Soldera’s Pricing: The Success Fee Model Explained

Somebody has to say it - renewable energy middlemen can be costly (see our “players” breakdown to see who’s doing what in the market). Producers, we’re here to tell you - you don’t need another subscription, retainer, or “consulting day rate.”

If you sell Guarantees of Origin (GOs) in Europe, our guess is that your problem can be distilled: too much friction in registries, huge broker spreads, and too little certainty over what you’ll actually net when it’s all said and done. This market can feel brutal and confusing: perhaps you accidentally let some certificates expire (don’t worry, it’s more common than you’d think), or volatility or prices have spooked you, and you’re starting to feel like this market is more trouble than it’s worth. On top of all of this, you can’t find a reliable sales channel that doesn’t add insult to injury with fees.

Our answer is simple: a success fee (visible prices per-region listed here) that only applies when a sale clears successfully through a Soldera auction - nothing more. And if somebody offers you a separate deal that you’d like to take, you’re perfectly welcome to make the sale externally. Once we correctly configure your allocations (such as for cases where PPAs or forward sales occur), your GOs are completely yours to sell, transfer, retire, or do as you please with.

Not only that, but you can use Soldera’s platform features for free, and there’s no obligation to join our aggregated sales channels for forward and spot. Whilst we do consistently beat the market and help producers net the most profit without lifting a finger, you may already have a nice sales strategy going yourself, and we respect that - all other management features remain free. The choice is yours.

Why the alignment of incentives matters

Soldera’s fee only applies to value we create, and the fee applies exclusively to transactions executed through Soldera’s competitive auctions.

This means that when we’re taking your volumes to our buyer network (100+ active market participants and growing), we’re incentivised to fetch you the best deal, no matter what. The same cannot be said for fixed-fee alternatives or outsized spreads. This is actually contractual for us. In our Spot Sales Procedure (see the Trading Procedure), we are explicitly required to accept only the highest available market quote, after seeking multiple bids to secure the best possible price. In Forward Sales (see the Forward Sales Agreement), we are bound to honor the fixed price agreed with the producer at the outset. Across both sales types our contracts reinforce our obligation to achieve the best possible outcome for our producers, something we consistently deliver in practice.

And, because everything else is free

Platform access (device and inventory views), reporting, registration, PPA management, and registry work (registration, transfers) are free. If there’s no sale, there’s no cost. It’s that simple. Soldera was built to be non-exclusive by design - you can run your own bilateral deals. Upload external contracts; we’ll process them and handle registry tasks for free. To our knowledge, we’re the only player in Europe automating registry operations at scale without fixed fees. It’s really only fair to expect you to pay when you win, not for the privilege of trying.
